One quart of tomato juice
3 cans chili beans
1 can large kidney beans
1 can small red kidney beans
1 can black beans (I know not typical but just throwing in more protein here people)
1 can crushed tomatoes (or if your feeling ambitious you can bake and crush your own tomatoes but umm good for you not for me today)!
1 lb ground turkey (totally optional)
Cayenne pepper to taste
3/4 cup Sugar
In a large pot pour tomato juice on low. Drain all the beans except chili beans and add to pot. If you are adding turkey cook the turkey and season it. Then drain it and add to chili.
Add seasoning to taste - I do this a few times throughout the cooking process until I love the taste of it. You can add more or less sugar depending on your taste also. But the sugar is the secret ingredient it's necessary. Leave on low stirring occasionally for a few hours and prepare for a delicious aroma to fill your house.
I like to make corn bread with ours but I also include cheese, avocado, tortilla chips and sometimes even lime as toppings.
This literally serves a million people- ok but seriously we can get about 10-12 servings out of this. And it's addictive so be warned.
